Since the 26 October 2008, Daylight Saving Time has been introduced in Mauritius. Currently, computers in Mauritius use the “(GMT+04:00) ‘Abu Dhabi, Muscat” time zone setting. However, DST is not observed in Abu Dhabi and Muscat and this causes the time to be 1 hour early.
Some people may prefer to change their Time Zone settings to (GMT+5:00) locations such as “Ekaterinburg”.
One other option for Windows users is to create a new Time Zone for Port Louis, Mauritius.
In order to do this, we must create a file which will be merged in the Windows registry.
Steps:
1. Download the registry file I created here to yor desktop (or anywhere else).
2. Open the file (You must be on an Administrator account to open it, THIS WIILL NOT WORK ON LIMITED OR STANDARD USER ACCOUNTS. If you are using Windows Vista you can Right-click the file and Select “Open as Administrator”)
You will get the following screen (Click image to see larger version):
Click Yes if you trust me :P
This will add the time zone “(GMT+04:00) ‘Port Louis” to your Windows Clock (Control Panel>Date and Time or Double-click on the clock in your taskbar)
3. Click on “Change Time Zone” and Select (GMT+04:00) ‘Port Louis’
(Click image to see larger version)
4. You’re done!!!
Here are the steps to create the file yourself (if you don’t trust me :P):
1. Open Notepad in Windows (Start>Programs/All Programs>Accessories>Notepad) or (Start>Run>notepad)
2. Paste the following registry code in notepad:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionTime ZonesMauritius Standard Time]
“TZI”=hex:10,ff,ff,ff,00,00,00,00,c4,ff,ff,ff,00,00,03,00,00,00,05,00,02,00,
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,0a,00,00,00,05,00,02,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
“Std”=”Mauritius Standard Time”
“Dlt”=”Mauritius Daylight Time”
“Display”=”(GMT+04:00) Port Louis”
“Index”=dword:8000004F
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionTime ZonesMauritius Standard TimeDynamic DST]
“2007”=hex:10,ff,ff,ff,00,00,00,00,c4,ff,ff,ff,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
“FirstEntry”=dword:000007d7
“LastEntry”=dword:000007d9
“2008”=hex:10,ff,ff,ff,00,00,00,00,c4,ff,ff,ff,00,00,01,00,02,00,01,00,00,00,
“2009”=hex:10,ff,ff,ff,00,00,00,00,c4,ff,ff,ff,00,00,03,00,00,00,05,00,02,00,
3. Save the file as Filename.REG (Mine is saved as PLTimeZone.reg)
4. You got your registry file!
BTW This is my first blog post :D
Via this Microsoft Support Article (I added the dates for Mauritius, removed the complicated stuff and added screenshots)
Dates from L’express.mu
